Having studied at Henley College and Central
St. Martins, Oxfordshire painter Bee Bartlett has continued developing
her skills and exhibited widely since 2002, also participating in
Oxfordshire Artweeks every year since then. She has also shown work with
the Oxford Art Society and at Woodstock Art Festival.
โMy work covers a range of subject matter from landscapes, figurative to responses from my extensive travelling, with the unifying theme being the exploration of surface through the use of mixed media.
I am searching for a way to find a balance between the composition of a painting and the physical engagement in the handling of materials as a way of expressing my sensibility.
Much of my recent work has focused upon the study of the figure within the urban environment. An integral part of my practice, is the constant use of a sketchpad, where I make observational drawings of people in bars museums, streets. Rapid, gestural and direct in their execution, these are then used as the source material for development into paintings.
I am an Artist who exhibits regularly locally and more recently nationally. I have undertaken many commissions.โ Bee Bartlett
