In October, printmaker Rachel Owen and sculptor Rachel Ducker join forces at the O3 Gallery with the exhibition ‘Metamorphosis’. The exhibition loosely explores the idea of transformation, in terms of the natural and supernatural, the real and imagined, from idea to object or image and from present events to memory or souvenir.
Rachel Ducker’s enchanted wire figures emerge powerfully throughout the space. Featureless, they express all through their posture and imagined movement; static and yet bursting with energy. Rachel Owen’s imposing screenprints appear like windows against the gallery’s dark stone walls, offering a view into another world or dreamscape. Working in series rather than in large editions, Owen presents the varied possibilities offered by a single original image.
