Oxford Printmakers exhibition

The Oxford Printmakers have been established for 30 years in their lofty Workshop at the Christadelphian Hall, Tyndale Road, St Clements, Oxford. There are now 80 + members who come in to use the facilities. A printmaker/technician is on hand to help with the processes during technician times. Short courses in various processes are run throughout the year. Details of these can be viewed on their website.

The group features many well known Oxfordshire printmakers and this show forms part of a much larger programme of exhibitions organised by the cooperative. Oxford Printmakers also exhibit individually; Caroline Maas, Morna Rhys, Flora McLachan and Jo Sumner took part in this yearโ€™s Royal West of England Open Print Show at the Bristol Academy and also in the Originals โ€˜09 at the Mall Gallery, London.

Works vary from intricate wood engravings to lino and woodcut, to screen printing, etching and monoprint. Printmaking has been called a truly modern artistsโ€™ medium; many artists, even if not primarily printmakers, use it as part of their work.
